I'm curious as to whether or not the Spanish I'm learning on here is easily understood by people from Mexico or if I need to know there are many (or few) differences. Thank you.

You're in good shape on this site!! Also, 99.9% of Spanish speaking people are unbelievably generous with people learning their beautiful language. So, let's say that you go to Mexico and you make a mistake...no big deal! Even if it turns out that you have accidentally committed a boo-boo in the language, nothing horrible will happen; nobody will be offended. Just be regretful and move on!

As far as I know, there really are not that many differences. One of the big ones however is that in Spain they use the vosotros forms of verbs while in Latin countries, such as Mexico, they do not.

Jeanne, yes, Spanish is understood everywhere.

Jeanne, If you learn to speak it properly (as from this site) then you will be understood anywhere. However you may have to adapt your ears when listening to people from different parts of the Spanish speaking world.

Of course, isn't that true of 'native' English speaking people from the US? United Kingdom? Australia? or Nigeria?

There are some differences from one Spanish-speaking country to the next, just like French, from one French-speaking country to another there are certain words that are common to only one region, but basically it is understood by all.
