I need the proper word for "company" as in "I am having company coming over to my house tonight. Is there such a word besides putting amigos and familia in place of company?

Voy a placer con mis amigos en casa is a way to say it without sounding like you speak spanish from a book. wink

You can say :

to keep somebody company = hacer compañía a alguien

en compañía de = accompanied by, in the company of

So, compañía could be the word your looking for.
