Why don't you try "recibir"? That's another word for "acoger". Or - if it's active hosting, such as a presentation, you could use "presentar".
- Would it sound proper enough to use in a Service Manual I am translating? It will be printed for over 200 spanish speaking members who will be encouraged to "HOST" a convention. - WITCHBELLA Oct 20, 2009 flag
- The closes thing I found that I might use is el anfitrión...Can you say Anfitrionar? Is that a word? LOL - WITCHBELLA Oct 20, 2009 flag

are you saying "...immediately after getting the approval of the Area Coordinator to host the Area Assemblies"? If so, maybe you could try: "...inmediatamente después de conseguir la aprobación del Coordinador de Area para recibir las A de A". (or use "presentar las A de A" if you mean "host" in the sense of a presentation, like "hosting a show".)

I think the best might be presidir.
