What does "una mochila" mean?

una mochila literally means "a backpack", like one you might wear to school. =)
I agree with Chilover.
Everywhere I've been it's a backpack...the kind you wear to school.
In real life it's a handbag...the type of which a wife makes her husband carry when she is shopping. 
It's a backpack and depending on the context it can also be a flashdrive.
