To verify the name, the next time you are out shopping in a grocery store, go to the school supply aisle and pick up a roll. More than likely (in the US) the name is printed on the tape in at least two languages.

And for the folks across the pond (though most of you are probably aware of the American usage) "Scotch tape" is "cello" (not the instrument).
