I need some work with the subjunctive mood, so I wrote a bunch of sentences. I'd appreciate if someone would look over them for mistakes. Sorry if they seem a bit random, I was trying to work in some vocabulary words.

(This one confuses me. I hear 'tocar' used for taking a drink, but I wasn't sure if it worked for this.)

Aconsejo que ores por lluvia.

Mi suegro recomienda que yo destitua el empleado.

¿Suplicas que arrecien la situación?

Propongo que restaures la homenaje.

No creo que el preso se evidare la celda.

Maria duda que comas alacranes.

Ojalá que el lluvia anegue la escuela.

Ojalá reprimas tus ansias.

Interesting questions, Jason, I will answer them as they show much interest in learningsmile

Quiero que reinicies el juego.

Why was this changed from replantear? I was trying to say, "I want you to rethink the game." Would it have been more clear if I had said "I want you to rethink the rules of the game," or is that just the wrong way to use 'replantear'?

Under the circumstances replatear is correct. Reiniciar is to start over.

Lamento de que los jugadores reclamen tantas veces

I thought comparacer meant "to show up in court." Is that not correct?

What did you want to say?

Sally le teme a quien le susurra en el autobús.

I'm glad to know that the personal 'a' is used even for 'quien'. That's neat. I'm not sure why you changed the verb, though. Is the sentence not subjunctive? Why not?

Temer a alguien so always with a.

le susurre is better, it is not clear if the person does actually whisper.... Unless you mean: she fears who whispers to her, a known person and only that one. both tenses are correct.

Es importante que te tomes las pastillas para el resfriado.

I used ingerir mainly because I was trying to think up a sentence using ingerir. I understand that tomes is the better word, but is there something particularly wrong with using ingerir?

Ingerir una droga, ingerir un alimento. Tomar una pastilla, simply sounds better, you would not use ingerir with tablets.

Que mal que Bill sufriera una sobredosis

Paralee listed "Es malo que" as an impersonal expression that we can use. Is there a particular reason why it doesn't work in this sentence?

Es malo es correcto, pero mejor la sugerencia de Quentin.

No creo que el preso se evadiera de la celda.

I was trying to use evadirse, which my dictionary lists as "to escape". I misspelled it here. If I had written "se evadare" would that have been correct?

This is a mistake, evadiera is the verb to use with "de"

**Ojalá que el lluvia inhunde la escuela

Why does 'anegar' not work?**

This is wrong:

Strange sentence anyway, you want to the school to be flooded???I am guessing it is negative:

Ojalá que la lluvia no inunde la escuela.

Ojalá que la lluvia anegue la escuela.

There is not really anything wrong with using anegar, but the common usage of this word is more like, not cover completely:

El hielo derretido en Groenlandia puede hacer que el mar anegue Nueva York

  • Changing the color of the words that were changed is very helpful. I still would appreciate some explanation of the changes, 'replantear' and 'reiniciar" are completely different words, so that doesn't make sense. Same thing with some other changes. - Jason_Bryant Oct 16, 2009 flag

Why was "por lluvia" changed into "para que llueva" and not "para lluvia"?
