ASK A QUESTION how do you say to play a movie?

On the contrary, in my Spanish class we were told we can use the word "poner", as in "poner la película". I assure you it doesn't mean "put the movie." ![]()
I say it, "corre el video." Otros lo dicen distincto, pero es igual. Play the video. ![]()
Why not use start the movie?
Comienza la película.
I'm not sure that play has a verb similar to play for movies like English does. I would imagine if it does it would be like musical instruments, toca la película.
I would guess exhibir if you meant in a movie theater

If you are giving a speech, it's something formal, the correct way to complement this with a movie would be to say: "ahora, le voy a poner una pelicula...."

I want to take this opportunity to point out something to everyone. See how many different ways there are to express an idea in spanish? There is no such thing as This Is The Way To Say It And If You Don't Say It As I Told You Then You Are Wrong And My Spanish Is Better Than Yours. That doesn't exist. No, I'm wrong...that exists for people who have an ego problem and have to prove themselves to be better than someone else. Anyway, just as in english there are like a billion ways to say a thing, it is the same in spanish. The Most Important Thing Of All is to begin to think in spanish. Formulate your thoughts with the words your have. That's the important thing. Sure...I could speak high spanish...if I wanted to confuse everyone...when the only thing I want to know is "donde esta el bano???" The important thing here is to communicate what you have in mind, and communicate it effectively. Now...you all have four or five different ways to say the same thing...the only thing for you all now is to decide which of these is the most normal for you...and use it. ![]()
