  • The problem was that you were supposed to make an attempt before we gave you the answer. - Seitheach Oct 8, 2009 flag

I could get in trouble for this, but I want to try my hand at translating. Anyone please correct me. Voy a la cocina comer desayuno.

Voy a la cocina para desayunar.wink

  • It was "to eat" not "for" breakfast. Or is this the way it is said? - Seitheach Oct 8, 2009 flag
  • "Para" also means "to". - Deanski Oct 8, 2009 flag
  • So does desayunar mean eat breakfast? - Seitheach Oct 8, 2009 flag
  • Yup, that's exactly right. - Deanski Oct 8, 2009 flag
  • So it's just adding the two together. "voy a la cocina" is I go to the kitchen & "para desayunar" is to have/eat breakfast. - Deanski Oct 8, 2009 flag

I think this is the right way to say it, but you might want to check with other people, Voy a la cocina a comer el desayunar.

  • Comer is 'to eat' so why would you use the a before it? - Seitheach Oct 8, 2009 flag
  • Hi. Comer is to eat & Desayunar is to have breakfast. So I guess you would see how it sounds redundant when used together. - Deanski Oct 8, 2009 flag
  • So now I am confused. We have three answers up there. Which one is proper? - Seitheach Oct 8, 2009 flag
  • I don't want to sound like I'm a smart aleck or something, because I'm not, but I'm pretty confident that mine is correct. - Deanski Oct 8, 2009 flag

What about "Voy me desayuno"?

  • That's incorrect. Voy is "I go" or "I'm going to" & "me desayuno" means "I eat breakfast" or "I am eating breakfast". - Deanski Oct 8, 2009 flag
