  • Mi queso suizo tiene mucho agujeros en el y apesta, así que lo puse en un hoyo en el suelo y lo encubrí.

  • (My swiss cheese has a lot of holes in it and it stinks, so I put it in a hole in the ground and covered it up.)

agujeros = holes

hoyo = hole

  • Is the "en el" after agujeros necessary? And shouldn't it be "y lo apesta"? But great job, creative sentence. - Goyo Oct 2, 2009 flag

Cuando está en un agujero, ¡pare cavar!

(Or would it be "pare caviendo"? I don't think so, but want to be sure. I'm sure someone will quickly correct this if it's wrong.)

(When you are in a hole, stop digging!) (One of my favorite expressions!)

DR: It sounds strange to my ears, but what do I know. I might have wrote:

  • "Cuando usted está en un hoyo, ¡paraba cavando!"

My explaination:

  • "hoyo" I usually read as a hole in the ground -- but I also think "agujero" could also be used.

  • "pare" should be "paré" but I am pretty sure that is wrong because it is 1sr prsn sglr pretérito and should be "paró" 3rd prsn sglr pretérito . I used "paraba" 3rd prsn sglr imperfect; I am not sure if it should be "paró" pretérito or "parada" imperfect. Maybe a advanced student will help us -- I don't feel good about what I wrote either.

  • "caviendo" should be "cavando" and I used that as you suggested.

I used "pare" (no accent) as the imperative form of "parar" from the Conjugation tab. Right? Wrong?

"caviendo" should be "cavando" and I used that as you suggested.

Thanks for correcting this. I messed up the -ar vs -er gerund endings

When you are in a hole, stop digging!

With all these errors, maybe I should listen to my own advice and stop digging! But then I'd never learn anything!
