In spanish you do not capitalize the days of the week or the months, do you? I always thought that you didn't, but I have seen the months capitalized. Which is correct?

They (months) are capitalized when used as a word by themselves, for example as a title for a calendar page, but when used, say, in in a date or in a regular sentence they would not be (unless, of course, they begin the sentence).

For some reason I can't cut and paste from this PDF file, but if you wish to see the rule, then look on this RAE site below under section 3.4, minúscula inicial

I have seen them written in sentences not capitalized as well. I'll be anxious to hear what the gurus say about this. I am sure if it starts a sentence it should be capitalized. smile

  • Yes, definitely capitalized at the beginning of a sentence... - Theet Sep 29, 2009 flag
