Spanish really does use names like Gordito that English speakers might consider insulting.

Burro

Buey

Becho...... to name a few that coincidentally begin with B.

  • Hi Greg...what is "Becho?" Did you mean "bicho" = "insect"? - Izanoni1 Sep 29, 2009 flag

Cuando dice "nick-names".... Like "gordito"?, or like "Teri" for "Teresa"

  • Does any one honestly believe that "Gordito" is a "Fun" or "Charming" nickname for a child?? (Or for an adult??) - Moe Sep 28, 2009 flag
  • yea? That's a very common and endearing nickname if you know someone well. - morphine Sep 28, 2009 flag
  • this is a cultural thing, and it depends. A healthy chubby baby or toddler in Mexico of a good friend - Mom is tickled and charmed by the name, almost a compliment. It depends on context and culture. - kittybrougha Sep 28, 2009 flag
  • Gordito *lol* I love it - AnnoLoki Sep 29, 2009 flag
