Why do you roll your "r" at the beginning of a word if it is not spelled with double "r's".

All of the words in spanish that begin with a "r", but they are still rolled.

Ah, that would be another pronunciation rule. No joke, if the word begins with the letter 'r' then yes, you do roll the 'r'. If you can't roll your 'r' don't worry, you'll still be understood.

because the pronunciation only varies in the middle of a word, not at the beginning. In other words double r's and beginning of a word r's sound the same.
