ASK A QUESTION Why does SpanishDict crash by browser?
When I try to look at the "answers" section a message pops up saying "Firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close". Sometimes it happens immediately and sometimes it takes a few minutes...but it always happens. And it doesn't happen on any other web page. I've checked for viruses (nothing) and tried Internet Explorer but still it crashes. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone who is technically-minded help?
Thanks.

Try clearing your cache and cookies and sometimes history or temporary pages. This site doesn't work well with those features with any of the main browsers. I have a suspicion that some of the problems result from the ads on this site and how they interact with your browser.
Do you have 100 windows and tabs open? It does that if I have hundreds of spanishdict.com tabs open in firefox...
I use Firefox and have no problems. What kind of machine are you using? Try updating Firefox (toward the bottom on the help tab).
It's your computer, not Spanisdict.
- Yes, the machine is old (but reliable) How come not every website though? Thanks Phil - patch Sep 23, 2009 flag
- A lot of it depends on where you go with your computer. Do you keep it clean? How much ram and processor size. The biggest thing is using a good protection program. - Seitheach Sep 23, 2009 flag
Never happened to me on this site (Firefox and Opera, I don't use IE). Only sometimes when I open too many tabs it slows down beyond any description...
Okay. I'll have to see if there's any spyware or other gremlins on this old piece of junk...erm...computer.
Thanks for the suggestions folks
One other thing. I know this isn't poplular, but it's true. Myspace and facebook are bad for your computer. Your homescreen should be something simple like just a search bar. I have mine set on Google. My kids at home use all those social netwrking sites and my wife is always emailing me about computer problems. I stay off of them and never have a problem. I do a disc cleanup and a defrag almost everyday too. Do not click on pop ups ever. Hope this helps.
I tried on Chrome to do what Quentin said. I did it and all, but then, next day we were back to normal...
page cannot be found.
I am doing Firefox now and works ok, muchs slower thought than Chrome...such a shame. ![]()
I have Mc Afee security on my computer , when I checked out Spanishdict for the first time some months ago it was red flagged by Mc Afee , at that time they said the reason for for the red rating was there was a browser exploit attempted on the test computer they were using .Since then they have changed that rating to green but they do warn against clicking on the ads. on this site
