You can also say:

Voy a trasladar mi oficina a la primera planta.

which is probably what you are looking for.

Is it a future plan (the first sentence) or an activity happening now (the second sentence)? Both are correct but the meanings are different.

What purpose does the reflexive pronoun serve here? Since the office is the d.o. this is not reflexive use, so why the pronoun?

I don't understand why the second one here is not correct? In English, we could say either one. Why is that incorrect in Spanish if you can explain please?

Me voy a mudar a la primera planta. ( I am going to move to the first floor)

Me voy a mudar mi oficina a la primera planta. (I am going to move my office to the first floor)

Actually given that you are treating mainly with Mexicans I guess it would be advisable to use piso.

We use piso in this context in Spain, too. However, piso is normally a big apartment.
