Would you use ser or estar to describe a cave's darkness?

Thanks.

HI bng, welcome to the forum smile

well, this is on one of the few cases where you can say both

está oscura: Normally the cave has some light, but not today

es oscura: it is always pitch dark

Voy a tener que decir ... La cueva esta oscura.

Aunque sea una descripcion, lo que me viene a la mente es esta, en vez de es.

Espero que esto le haya ayudado smile

It depends. Are we saying it's always dark, or that it's especially dark at the moment? smile

I know the grammar says that it could be 'es' but is anyone used to hearing it put that way ... la cueva es oscura?

No me suena natural smile
