Hola Ricardo. I have two entries in my home dictionary:

1) Mayordomía

2) Senescalía

Maybe a native speaker can tell you which is best.

  • Thanks Marianne. We say in Spanish: "quedé en las mismas", meaning, I am at the same point. We definetively a native speaker for help - RicardoP Sep 18, 2009 flag

Mayordomo is the correct word for steward. It is a word that I have used in several churches in Latin America. I would suggest you go with "mayordomia"

Also, mayordomo is the correct word for steward in a Spanish Bible.

Hope this helps.

¡Hola! Ricardo:

Synonyms for stewardship, even in English, are difficult. I looked in my English language thesaurus and my English language dictionary. I can easily see why you are having a difficult time finding a precise word to replace the word "stewardship". The very concept of stewardship is probably advanced for most people who encounter the word.

In spite of the difficulty, I suggest that in English, "acting in a fiduciary capacity" is the equivalent of "stewardship". If you agree, then perhaps in Spanish you could say:

"Obrando en un papel fidiciario"

Sadly, this may be as difficult for your readers as "mayordomía, gobierno, administración, o senescalía"

Buena suerte en su búsqueda.

Recuerdos/Best wishes,

Moe
