I am ordering a plaque but will have it engraved in Spanish. The logo says "Above and Beyond" its perfect but I need it in Spanish and the translation that was given to me I really don't like it. It's 'Por encima y mas alla" I just think it's not as strong as it is in English. Can you please help me find another way to say it in Spanish that has the same strength it has in English? Thank You. HI Sarah, what does it exactly mean? What does the above refer to?

Heidita It is part of an expression in English and is used a lot. For example "What he did was above and beyond the call of Duty" In other words it was more than anyone could expect or demand. Does that help ?Because I have no idea how to say it in Spanish.

Oh, Thanks a lot Ian, always a pleasure seeing you. Vammos , un placer, no sé por qué te hablo en inglés smile

Bueno, entonces:

Un militar cuando se cruza con alguien de rango superior, ... Ahora bien, el honor es incluso ir por encima y más allá de lo que exige el deber. A ...

Lo cierto es que debe ser una frase hecha en el ámbito militar.

I used Google Translator to play with a terse phrase that would say what you want. Since I don't speak Spanish, perhaps a native speaker can tell us whether it has a similar meaning and impact.

Más allá del deber Beyond duty

al arriba del deber to the top of duty

I like the musical sound of this phrase in Spanish, but am not sure how it would be processed by the native Spanish speaker.
