What are some common things in Spanish people say when answering their phone? Someone told me that "hola" is not often used, is that correct? I'm particularly interested in what Mexican-American or Mexican people say. Gracias.

HI Marcia, in Spain:

Holaaaa

¿Si?

Formal:

In the Dominican Republic, "Dígame" is also popular. Many say, "Alo, digame".

"Alo" here being the Dominican accented English word "Hello".
