I would say "superficie de asiento de la tapa de cilindros" or "superficie superior del block". I prefer the first option though.
- Thanks! "Superficie de asiento" is exaclty what I need. - sn33kyp3t3 Sep 8, 2009 flag

Are you referring to the block surface, to the head surface, or both? I don't think there is a Spanish word for that, anyway, but I can tell you how to say it.
- I'm talking about the block surface, How would you refer to that part of the block? - sn33kyp3t3 Sep 8, 2009 flag

I was under the impression that both surfaces are machined ie, the block and the cylinder head to form a perfect match. What goes between these two surfaces is normally the cylinder head gasket. I do not know of a single word for this "gap" even in English.
- Thanks for your input, but I was talking about the actual surface of the block. This needs to be machined to a specific height "decking". - sn33kyp3t3 Sep 8, 2009 flag
