how do you say he enjoyed selling el le gustaba vend__? doesn't the ing form end with iendo or ando?

you are right. ER and IR verbs change the stem to iendo. AR verbs to ando vendiendo/estoy vendiendo frutas en el mercado hoy.

You're asking the wrong question (or, at least, in the wrong way). There are three different uses of verbal forms in -ing in English. 1) Together with a helping verb to form a progressive tense (This one works the same way in Spanish). e.g. "He is walking in the street." / "Está andando en/por la calle. 2) As an adjective e.g. The man walking in the street is my brother. You can't do this in Spanish but you can make a verbal adverb. e.g. "Se fue andando." 3) As a noun (which corresponds to your example sentence) e.g. "Walking is good for your health." One can do something equivalent in Spanish but you must use the infinitive (not the present participle). e.g. "Andar es bueno para la salud."

Thus: "He likes selling ..." = "Le gusta vender ..."

You need to say either:

It pleases him to sell.... le gusta vender...

It (used to) please him to sell... le gustaba vender...
