Please check this for me. I'm writing a letter.
Bangkok, sábado 29 de agosto de 2009
Querido Álvaro:
¡Hola! Yo soy Beer.
Soy de Bangkok, Tailandia.
Tengo quince años y soy estudiante de grado 9.
En mi tiempo libre me gusta leer y tomar las fotos.
Mucho gusto, Álvaro.
Una saluda,
Beer

It's perfectly understandable to a non-native, English speaker.
I believe it's "un saludo", however.
And I would use a plural verb ending for "me gustan leer y tomar las fotos", but I am not sure that Spanish treats compound subjects the same as English does.
Also, I don't know about the Querido, We use "Dear" ... even in formal, business letters. I don't know if the usage is the same in Spanish. I would go with Estimado or something more formal as you apparently don't know this persona well.
Wait for a native who would know what is customary usage.
Con mucho gusto. (I don't know when the "with" was dropped, but I never see it used with it. It always sounds abrupt to me without it, but it's not my language.
