Bug fixed; you may once again ask questions

Question

For the past four hours or so, users have been unable to ask any question with a space in the title due to a minor bug with major consequences. (Thank you to Lazarus for alerting us with the "aaaaaaaaaaa" reference article.) We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

I still get this whenever I try to edit my post in the Reference section:

It appears a question with exactly the same title has already been asked. Feel free to see if it helps you first, or please refine your question title.

I keep getting errors saying that I'm using illegal characters in the title when I'm not.

I've completely erased the person's title and re-written it and still gotten the error. I had to go through and do a one letter correction at a time to finally get it entered.

• Yeah, we rolled out a much stricter title-checker than we intended to. Are you still having this problem? What exactly is this title? It should be back to the way it was now, nice and permissive.... - Toph Aug 27, 2009
