Don't know if I'm trying to think too much in English here, but what I wish to express is the idea that The novel demands deliberation, an ill-fated genre for a writer like Gomez who is least deliberative of any writer.
Thanks! smile

ill-fated can be translated as desgraciado, funesto.

But I don't know what you wish to express in your sentence. An ill-fated genre''? I don't understand.

Es decir que el genero es mal escogido...no le conviene al autor y sus habilidades.
