All three statements seem strange to me but first let's correct the spelling mistake, it is meses spelt with an s and not a c. Estudiaba español suggests that at some time in the past you studied español. 1. desde hacia 6 meses= since towards 6 months, doesn't make sense. 2.hacía 6 meses,= towards 6 months. 3.desde 6 meses= since 6 months. If you are trying to say how long you have been studying, you could say: Estudio español desde hace 6 meses.or estuve estudiando español hace 6 meses. Ken. .

Does the first one mean I have been studying Spanish for 6 months, or that I studied Spanish 6 months ago?

The other two I have no idea. I was trying to get an idea from people what happens when one word or another is omitted.

The past (imperfect was used, so does the adverb also have to be in the past (hacía not hace))?
