Encontro un site que llama LoMasTv. Tiene videos para aprender español. Hay drama, noticias y mas, con subtitulos en español o inglés.

Me parece que es un site muy bueno pero tienes que pagar. So.... quiero saber si hay alguien que utiliza el site y puede decirme si merece la pena.

  • What do you mean by the word "Encontro" above? - Eddy 21 de Ago, 2009 marcar

The University of Texas (at Austin) has a website with Spanish speakers from all over the world doing small video monologues with printed material. It's a rather comprehensive site.....

  • I like this site. Thanks! - Alicia-53 21 de Ago, 2009 marcar
  • Wow! for the next six months or so, I will be right here in Austin. So grateful to have peeked in here to learn about this site! Thanks. - Janice 21 de Ago, 2009 marcar

They do publish free Spanish lessons. I get them by RSS feed. I believe that they are also available by email.

I hope that this takes you to a sample free lesson.

I subscribe to LoMasTV. I enjoy seeing the native speakers from different countries in their natural settings. They will teach you to cook a certain food, or tell you about their life, or talk about their city. Some of the recordings are of songs being sung in Spanish. Since I don't speak Spanish very well, the sub-titles are very helpful. You can also mark your favorites with a star, so that you can find them again. It helps me to watch the same thing over again many times. Each video clip is also marked for level of difficulty. Also they'll tell you if it's only appropriate for mature audiences. Then you can decide to watch or avoid those. I will probably never watch everything they have, but I've enjoyed what I have watched. Send me a message if you want more information.

That free demo lady makes me laugh, she just gets real into it and seems just so happy grin

  • Yes, she is muy simpática:-) When I feel more confident in Spanish I will surely want to subscribe, too. - Janice 21 de Ago, 2009 marcar

The videos come with membership as Alicia can no doubt explain to you. The free lessons are just grammar lessons based on the dialogue on the videos.

You'll hear allusions made like <<when so-and-so says this or that in the video...and then they proceed with the grammar topic involved. I have never checked to see if those videos are available on other sites, because I'm only interested in the grammar. If you're interested in watching the videos to increase you listening skills then I'm afraid you have to pay them.

I may have to modify that statement. After looking around I see that Muñeca Brava (the video on the lesson) is a telenovela and there are sites where you can download it (especially if you use peer to peer sites such at the Bitorrent or uTorrent). I think that LoMasTV contains interviews with stars and other features beyond TV series videos. Ask Alicia.

If you like spanish tv, Univision.com is a good place to practice your spanish through the forums about artists and actors and shows, which they call the Univision foros.

  • Most forum members will help you practice if you let them know that you're learning and do not speak fluent spanish. - LAtINaPunKRO 21 de Ago, 2009 marcar

Langmedia has a good bit of native Spanish speakers talking at a normal pace with acompanying (but separate) text. link text

Also LomásTV is free to try for seven days, so you can decide if you want to continue with it. If you do (like me!), and pay for the year up front it works out to $8 a month. With two or three new videos each week I am glad I did. The games are kind of simple, but I mostly work on my vocabulary and listening skills by using the stars to mark the videos that I want to continue to review until I can watch them without the subtitles. ¡Vale mucho!

Thanks a lot for all the useful links. I just visited audiria.com and bookmarked it. Some of it is audio only but it has the text (in Spanish) to go along with it.

I clicked on Songs and they have music videos, again with the Spanish text. I think this will be a site I will visit often.

Oh my, the audiria.com website is just awful. Anyone know of a professional teaching site that offers something for the adult learner. It looks like a child put that together. And stop suggesting rosettastone...please
